About Us

The West Virginian Sutler is a family company that was established to meet the needs of the Civil War era reenactor. We have done many years of research in order to bring you the most authentic reproduction clothing and to meet the needs of the modern reenactor.

We began in 2002 with drafting patterns, researching the era and attending reenactments so that we could provide what the consumer wanted. We attended our first reenactment as a company in the spring of 2005 and thanks to our show and internet sales we currently have products in 25 states and counting.
Among our clients is the Olmsted Historical Society who maintains the Frostville Museum in Olmsted Falls, Ohio. There are two dresses featured in the Carpenter House that are in the 1830's style so as to match the style of the original owner.

We make everything as period correct as possible and often look to the fashion plates of the era for inspiration.

We are currently looking for retail space in NE Ohio in a rural area, if you know of any place or have any suggestions please let us know. We welcome any input you may have.
